Nestled in the heart of Utah, in the Salk Lake Valley, is a small community called, Bluffdale. Here we moved in the late 1990’s to begin our life in the agriculture world. Showing livestock became a lifestyle when I was just three years old. At this time my family was heavily involved with the Miniature Horse Breed and showed all over the country. My horses and I were multiple National Champions throughout my years with the AMHR. Not only did we show and breed miniature horses, but, we shared our love of the breed by being in parades, doing party’s and participating in many other special events throughout Utah.
When I turned twelve years old, I purchased my first set of show lambs to show at the Salt Lake County Fair. I loved it from the moment we brought them home, and soon, I quickly began showing all of the show breeds; lambs, hogs, goats and steers. However, it was the show calves that I found I had a special love and passion for. With the help of many mentors, I quickly rose to the top, showing high quality steers, winning numerous livestock shows throughout the state, during my time in FFA. One of the pinnacle moments in my show career was winning the Utah State Fair my last year in the program. It was a goal I had been working on to achieve for many years and I won it with one of the most amazing calves, one in which solidified my passion for the breed.
The experiences I had in both 4H and FFA helped carve out my future. The year following my graduation, I purchased my first set of show and breeding heifers. Traveling to Iowa I was able to purchase a heifer I named, “Peaches” who would soon take me to a whole other level of competition and expertise. That year Peaches won 17 Championships in a row, and at that time a record for the Jackpot Series, winning the Utah Days of 47 Livestock show, where she won Grand Champion Breeding Heifer and also the Grand Champion Market Beef, which has never to my knowledge ever been done here in Utah. This was totally an unheard of and was an amazing experience to of had. That same year she won the Rocky Mountain Jackpot Show Series Finale. Since then she has produced our top club calves and has helped get our farm known throughout the state.
Our business plan is to have high quality club calves that are pre-weened, creep fed, halter broke, broke to tie, broke to walk, and started with the foundational skills to begin their show career in the ring. They are washed and blown everyday and are used to the daily regimen of a show career.
We invite you to give us a call, or come down for a visit at the farm at any time. Our club calf sale is typically held the end of September, after the Utah State Fair. Come visit us at the Utah State Fair where we always have a set of our sale steers and heifers on preview.
Spend some time browsing our web page and getting to know the cows we have and the quality of calves we sell. See you soon!
